A comparison of the Nintendo 3DS and the DS Lite:
As you can see there are quite a few comparable differences, the main points being that the Nintendo 3DS is smaller than the DS Lite but the screen resolution is a lot better on the the 3DS. What the 3DS has got though that doesn’t even come close to the DS Lite is that the 3DS has a 3D enabled screen that means that you don’t have to wear those weird blue and red glasses! A slider to the side of the screen allows you to either change the strength of the 3D image dependant on your eyesight or turn it off altogether. Both models feature a touch screen display that enables you to play with either the stylus or your finger.
A huge selling point and worlds first for a handheld gaming console is that the 3DS comes with a camera that allows you to view your picture in 3D format. This is compared to no camera at all on the DS Lite.
The DS Lite has the L,R, A, B, X, Y buttons as well as a D Pad whereas the Nintendo 3DS has all the above plus motion sensor and a gyroscope as well has an analogue joystick and a home button that when pressed takes you straight back to the home screen. The motion sensor and the gyroscope means that the handheld will physically be moved like the Wii remote controller to direct their player.
All in all, the obvious winner is the Nintendo 3DS due to its 3D capabilities not just on the gaming front but also with the camera. There was also an announcement by the CEO of Nintendo that in the future you will be able to watch 3D movies on the console, with titles from Disney, DreamWorks and Warner Bros already lined up. This console sounds like it is going to be the world’s smallest machine to take on the world of entertainment!
