Watch the old people beat your ass on the Nintendo Wii Console!
According to the Bromsgrove Advertiser, the residents at a care home in Bromsgrove have been given a Nintendo Wii Console to play with in order to keep their body and mind active. It is hoped that the residents will play with the Wii console which will in turn help ward off dementia and other disease that affect the brain and the body. Playing active games on the Wii will help increase mobility, improve cognitive process that keep the brain focused and working and get the residents trying new things.
The care home manager, Karen Hancox told the Bromsgrove Advertiser that the residents have loved playing with the Wii console and that as they can play it on their own or with groups, which it has also helped improved social interaction along with the benefits mentioned above.
Positive physical and mental effects using a Nintendo Wii Console:
An article in a magazine dedicated to dementia also states that the Wii console has had a number of positive effects on other care homes and their elderly residents.
